About The Role




Fire Safety Engineer



Salary: Grade 12 42,839-46,141



Hours: 35 hours per week



Temporary contract





Merseyside Fire & Rescue Authority (MFRA) Protection Department works with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), providing assistance to facilitate the exercise of the regulators functions.


We are looking for an experienced and talented individual to become part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to represent the Fire & Rescue Authority.



MFRA's responses to Planning Applications and Building Regulations consultations are handled by our in-house Fire Engineering Team. The Built Environment changes rapidly in terms of complexity and design and we are looking to provide Fire Engineering support with this role. You will be required to provide expert fire safety advice to the BSR to influence design and construction and be considerate to fire safety risks in occupation for compliance with the Fire Safety Order. As part of a team based in Merseyside and occasionally working across the North West you will be required to work flexibly, undertake site inspections when required and take the necessary enforcement action under the specific legislation.



The ideal candidate should have either a Fire Engineering Degree or at least a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (or an equivalent qualification).



If the candidate does not have a Fire Engineering Degree, they must be willing and able to complete one, which will be funded as part of the role.



Similarly, if they do not have the Level 4 Diploma, they must be willing and able to complete it, also funded by the role.



The current funding for this role is until 31st March 2026 with an application for further funding to be made in late 2025.
