We have several opportunities for high-performing individuals to join our team as Fire Safety Inspectors (Watch Commander A / Technical 1A).


WMFS continues to develop innovative and effective protection activities to meet changing risks in our communities and built environment, supporting a robust, evidence-based Community Risk Management Plan.


We are seeking self-motivated, committed individuals with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage change in a fast-paced and professional setting. You'll need to show digital leadership to help our protection team remain inclusive, effective and aligned with the aims of 'Our Strategy'.

Responsibilities


As a Fire Safety Inspector, you will:


ensure that WMFS meets its responsibilities under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005


deliver protection priorities and support businesses through the Better Regulation Framework


adapt to emerging risks in line with WMFS strategic objectives


remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions based on complex information, evidence and legislation


promote a positive, inclusive team environment to help others reach their potential


demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills


show a proven ability to work effectively with others, with a commitment to personal accountability and high standards


hold Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)


Successful candidates will receive mentoring and support throughout their development. You'll be enrolled on a Level 4 Fire Safety Inspector Apprenticeship, delivered by both internal and external providers. This requires a personal commitment of up to 24 months to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety.


Your application must clearly and concisely evidence your personal qualities, leadership and management experience. This will be assessed using the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Leadership Framework. Please ensure your examples are no more than 18 months old.


Applications are invited from Green Book employees wishing to apply, are required to be a competent grade of, Professional 3A, Technical 2A, Administration 1A or above to apply.


Successful applicants will be informed by Saturday 21 June and interviews will be held week commencing Monday 30 June.


Essential skills or experience


We are looking for people who can demonstrate:


an active development plan in fire safety, with evidence of varied and relevant protection work


a full UK driving licence and access to a car insured for business use


Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
