Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented

Fire and Security Service Engineer

to join our growing and dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, fault-finding, and repairing a variety of fire alarm and security systems, covering mainly London and the Home Counties. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a range of systems and strong technical proficiency.

You will work closely with colleagues and clients to ensure all work is completed to the highest standards and in full compliance with current safety regulations and industry guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:



- Installation through to Commissioning (if able) of Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarms, and CCTV Systems.

- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on systems including fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV.

- Diagnose and resolve system faults efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime.

- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety standards and industry regulations (e.g., BS5839, BS7671, NSI, BAFE).

- Assist customers and colleagues with technical issues either on the phone or face to face.

- Complete job sheets and all relevant paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.

- Take responsibility for the overall quality of the work delivered on-site.

- Carry out effective communications with clients and the office teams.

- Ensure the company meets its obligations and adheres to guidelines and regulations laid down by the professional bodies they subscribe to.

- Collect/record site configuration information.

- Restock van regularly to minimum stock levels as agreed by line manager, to ensure parts are available for small repairs to be carried out in a cost-effective way, if authorised, without automatically generating a return visit.

- Making sure any parts for a return visit request are adequately described to ensure correct back-office ordering, to make return visit effective.

- Undertake Health & Safety trainings/ meetings and competency training required to deliver their work function efficiently and within current UK Law.

- Participate in the on-call rota for emergency callouts as required.

Skills and experience:



- Proven experience in a similar role within the fire and security industry.

- Strong technical knowledge of fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV systems.

- Understanding of relevant British Standards (e.g. BS5839, BS5266).

- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.

- Familiarity with power tools and hand tools for system installation.

- Mechanical knowledge for mounting equipment and running cables.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and communication capabilities.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Willing to work flexible hours.

- Must hold and maintain a valid full British driving licence or equivalent.

- Right to work in the UK.

- DBS checked (or willing to undergo one).

Desirable:



- Relevant industry qualifications (e.g. FIA, City & Guilds, ECS/CSCS).

- Knowledge of different systems from manufacturers such as Kentec, C-Tec, Eaton, Texecom, Hikvision, Paxton...

- Experience working to NSI or BAFE standards

Pay: Up to 45,000.00 per year
