The Vessel
REV Ocean is unlike any other ship. It is equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities onboard for carrying out cutting-edge ocean science, as well as offering charter opportunities designed to integrate exploration, adventure, and science. REV Ocean will operate as a research vessel for 2/3 of the year and be available for charters for 1/3 of the year.

First Engineer
for REV OCEAN as follows:Joining Date:
16/July/2025 till 25/July/2025 +/-1 few days
Wage: in USD/month worked + NIS flag benefits provided by the Owner
Contract Length: temporary contract as specified above
The
1st Engineer
is a Senior Engine Room watchkeeper and is responsible for managing the engineering spaces on board during shifts. The role will include other duties as designated by the Chief Engineer.
The 1st Engineer is the deputy of the Chief Engineer.
Competency Requirements:
The 1st Engineer must have the competency as required by REV Ocean Operational Department's competence matrix.
All valid Certificates, including certificates for Passenger ships as per STCW Reg.V/2
Line of Reporting:
Report to the Chief Engineer.
Status - Senior Officer.
Salary - Refer to contract.
Rotation - Refer to contract.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities and duties include:
Comply with the 'Standing orders of the Chief Engineer'.
Support the Captain and Chief Engineer in ensuring the ship's compliance with company policies and procedures as well as international, state, or local maritime regulations.
Support the Captain and Chief Engineer in ensuring the ship's compliance with international Safety management (ISM), classification society rules, and Maritime Insurance, within his/her area of responsibility.
Support the Captain and Chief Engineer in achieving REV Objectives (safety, quality and environmental).
Be aware of QHSE in all tasks and operations and report any issues, discrepancies, accidents, or incidents immediately to the Bridge.
Be familiar with emergency procedures and duties according to Emergency Plans
Partake in emergency drills and training as and when required.
Operation and management of all machinery and technical spaces during watch
Ensure engine logbook and oil logbook are updated as applicable.
Assist the Chief Engineer in the management and supervision of engineering crew.
Assist the Chief Engineer in administration and supervision of maintenance schedules.
Oversee the safe storage of chemicals and ensure MSDS are available and up to date for all chemicals and toxic substances used by engineering crew members.
Troubleshoot faults and problems, providing repairs when possible and/ or calling the Chief Engineer if in doubt.
Actively participate in safety meetings when required.
Manage the PTW system and isolation requirements for the engineering department.
Ensure the maintenance, upkeep, orderliness and cleanliness of the engine room and engineering spaces on board.
Weekly and daily checks and tasks in accordance with Chief Engineers instructions.
Maintain records and reports on technical equipment including records of maintenance and repair work.
Manage spare parts, tools, equipment, and consumable inventories for the engineering department.
Assist the Chief Engineer in budget management and ordering of engine room spare parts, consumables, equipment, tools, services, and contractors as required.[NB1] [TE2]
Assist in organising and managing engineering contractors when required.
