Site History:



EPC Newport started out as Bar Foods, focused solely on foodservice and were acquired by The Billington Group since 2012. In 2018 the business evolved to Billington Food Service (BFS) which again was a dedicated foodservice supplier with over 30 years industry knowledge and expertise. The site produced ready meals, sauces and soup. In September 2021 we became an EPC site producing concentrating on dip pots and sachets.

Responsibilities & Duties:



Create a positive safety culture, ensuring that all responsibilities documented within the Annual Safety plan are delivered. Regular behavioural safety audits must be completed and accidents must be investigated in a timely manner and corrective actions put in place to prevent reoccurrence. An annual departmental safety plan needs to be created and delivered. Ensure that the operations team fulfil their contractual obligations with regards to the Quality Contract. The technical standards within the department must be maintained at the correct standard at all times and that GMP standards must remain above target. Customer complaint reduction plans based on the top complaint issues need to be drawn up, published and implemented. Optimisation & delivery of production plan to ensure 99.5% service in the most cost-effective manner. Labour and materials reports must be published as part of the hand over procedure and be based on Unity reporting. Variances to standard must be assessed through Unity and corrected on a daily basis. Costed standards need to be delivered. Continuously improving the performance of the production operation and implementation of documented improvement plans. Key performance indicators need to be monitored and daily line-based performance meetings need to occur for all teams. Training & development of the operations team is critical to maintaining flexibility and operational performance. Ensure that all staff are suitably trained and that an appropriate training matrix is in place supported by signed training documentation Through regular personal development meetings ensure that the potential of each team member is maximised and that all company procedures are adhered to effectively by team members. Assist in the delivery of NPD trials and customer visits to ensure that new products are delivered to costed standards and can be manufactured consistently. Adhere to all Health & Safety Legislation and internal Policies and Procedures Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Perform any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business. Portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner at all times. Any projects deemed appropriate to the role.

Key performance measures:



Annual safety plan responsibilities and accident reduction plan delivered. GMP score, including general & specific area to agreed target Right first-time above Quality Contract requirements Service level above 99.5% Labour and material standards to standard cost / better budget Minimum 6 CI / PIP projects delivered per annum Training matrix complete and skills maintained at required level NPD delivered on time and to appropriate quality

Qualifications:



Minimum 3/5 years people management experience Good working knowledge of Health & Safety - ideally IOSH Managing Safely trained Good Knowledge of HACCP and GMP Working knowledge of ERP systems e.g., Unity Experience of delivering Continuous Improvement projects
