We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Fishmonger to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, handling, and selling fresh fish and seafood products in a professional and hygienic manner. The Fishmonger will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction through expert advice, quality product presentation, and adherence to food safety standards.
Duties
Prepare and fillet fresh fish and seafood according to standard recipes and customer requirements
Maintain high levels of cleanliness and organisation in the fish counter area, complying with food safety regulations
Assist customers with selections, providing expert advice on different types of fish and seafood options
Ensure all products are correctly labelled, priced, and displayed attractively to maximise sales
Manage stock levels, including receiving deliveries, checking quality, and rotating stock appropriately
Operate relevant equipment such as filleting knives, scales, and refrigeration units safely and efficiently
Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent contamination or accidents
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent customer service
Qualifications
Proven experience in food production, culinary arts, or a similar role within a fishmongery or restaurant environment is highly desirable
Knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to fish and seafood products
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices in retail or kitchen settings
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and provide expert advice on seafood products
Previous experience working in a restaurant or kitchen environment will be considered an asset
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards

We are looking for someone to start with us Feb/March 2026. 6 Month initial term, however the right candidate will be offered a full time permanent job.
