Job overview




The post holder will be a vital member of the team who will ensure that a fleet of circa 50 - 60 patient transport vehicles are maintained to the highest possible standard. They post holder will work both independently and under the direction of the Shift Managers.



This role will help to ensure that the Trust is complaint with a range of policies and procedures ensuring the health and safety of colleagues, patients and the general public.



The post holder will have a keen eye for detail and a methodical work approach. The post holder will need to work outside in a range of weather conditions.



Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge is preferable




Main duties of the job




To prepare ambulances for daily use in line with agreed standard operating procedures

To clean vehicles both internally and externally as described within the services Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)

To ensure that consumables on vehicles remain at agreed levels

Report the return of untidy ambulances to the Shift Manager

To complete a range of vehicle checks including but not limited to tyre pressure, oil and screen wash levels

To move vehicles at the request of the Shift Manger, including taking vehicles off site for regular inspections and servicing

To inspect the vehicles for damage, report findings appropriately and verify the need for appropriate repairs

To ensure that

vehicles off the road

(VOR) are easily identifiable to prevent their use in error

To support crews to complete job cards for vehicle repairs as necessary

To Transfer equipment between vehicles when directed

To take receipt of paperwork including fuel receipts and accident forms and ensure that these are passed to the Resource Co-ordinator and appropriate manager as soon as possible
