The role
As a Fleet Programmes Senior Project Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll lead and mentor a team of Project Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards. This is a dynamic opportunity to grow your career in defence engineering while making a meaningful impact on the UK's naval capabilities.
Day-to-day, you'll be:
Leading, managing, and mentoring Project Engineers to support successful project delivery
Guiding teams in developing and maintaining project schedules aligned with Babcock's Project Delivery Framework
Developing and refining PEPS processes and procedures to support engineering task execution
Coaching engineers to meet planning and quality standards
Breaking down engineering tasks to build and maintain Project Management Plans across multiple submarine systems
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Fleet Programmes Senior Project Engineer
Proven expertise in complex Fleet Programmes project management
Skilled in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong knowledge of submarine systems and engineering principles
Familiarity with customer systems such as RDAR, UMMS, SDD, Trilogy, CWE, and Survey
Experience with Planning Estimating and Production System (PEPS)
Qualifications for the Fleet Programmes Senior Project Engineer
HNC in Engineering or equivalent experience
Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent experience
ILM Level 3 or equivalent
APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
Training in Resilience and Wellbeing
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
