Flexi Support Worker

Woodchurch, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you a passionate and caring individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities? If so, join our dynamic team at Canterbury Oast Trust as a Flexi Support Worker! We're seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Flexi (Casual) Worker Bank, providing essential support across our Residential Services located in Aldington, Ashford, New Romney, and Woodchurch.

At Canterbury Oast Trust, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care and support to adults with learning disabilities and, in some cases, complex needs throughout Kent. Our homes embody a fundamental ethos of promoting independence, dignity, choice, and achievement, empowering individuals to live the lives they truly wish for.

As a member of our Flexi Support Worker team, you will enjoy the flexibility of 'ad hoc' hours tailored to the needs of the people we support. In this dynamic role, you will:

Deliver high-quality, person-centred care that caters to the individual needs of adults. Accompany individuals to engage in life-skills activities such as music, arts, and sensory sessions. Assist with daily living tasks, including personal care, ensuring everyone feels supported and valued. Create a safe, nurturing environment that encourages individuals to discover their potential and pursue their aspirations. Maintain accurate records and provide throughout written reports. Plan exciting trips and activities that enhance the quality of life for the people we support.

To thrive in this role, you should:

Have a genuine appreciation for the needs of adults with learning disabilities. Be calm, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and respectful, bringing professionalism and a non-judgmental attitude to your work. Exhibit flexibility to work variable shifts, including long days, weekends, sleep-ins, and awake nights, as needed. Although experience with autism, dementia, and epilepsy is not essential, it would be advantageous. Possess basic knowledge of specialist equipment, with training provided for personal handling. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, along with good verbal and written communication capabilities and basic IT and report writing skills. Hold a Health & Social Care NVQ2 or Level 2 Diploma Qualification, or be eager to undertake the Care Certificate. Having a driving licence is essential due to our rural locations, as you will need to transport the people we support to appointments and activities in a manual pool car.

In return for your dedication, we offer a range of benefits, including:

Flexible ad-hoc hours that fit around your lifestyle. A friendly and established team with a dedicated central contact. Additional pay for complex needs services. Shift allowances for weekends, sleep-ins, and awake nights. Enhanced pay for bank holidays. Accrue annual leave each month. A paid DBS check renewed every three years. Fantastic training and development opportunities. A full and comprehensive induction program, including the Care Certificate.

All appointments are subject to verifying your eligibility to work in the UK, an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service, and receiving two satisfactory references.

If you believe you embody the qualities we seek, such as dependability, respect and recognition, professionalism and quality, integrity and honesty, equality and fairness, and resilience, we would love to hear from you! Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
