Hallmarking is the official process of testing and certifying the precious metal content of items like rings, bracelets, or silverware. Once tested, an official mark (called a hallmark) is applied to the item. This ensures it meets legal standards for purity and protects both consumers and jewellers.
Key Responsibilities:
You'll be trained to work in one or more of the following hallmarking and testing areas:
Handling & Preparation:
Receive and handle small, high-value jewellery items carefully. Sort and prepare them for testing or marking.
Testing & Marking:
Operate specialised equipment (XRF machines, laser markers, fly press, hydraulic press, or hand tools) to test and hallmark items with accuracy and care.
Quality Control:
Inspect each piece before and after marking to ensure the hallmarks are accurate, legible, and meet customer and legal standards.
Data Entry:
Record key information using our internal systems to support tracking and quality control.
Equipment Use & Maintenance:
Clean, calibrate, and maintain the tools you use. Report any issues or faults promptly.
Security & Care:
Work securely with high-value items, following strict procedures to ensure item safety and integrity.
Teamwork & Flexibility:
Collaborate with colleagues and be open to rotating between tasks based on business needs.

Essential:
Strong

Good eyesight

Manual dexterity
