(Consultant level, with support available for those progressing toward Senior) to deliver pre-planning water environment consultancy services across a
diverse portfolio of projects
. Our work spans residential, renewable energy, utilities and infrastructure schemes -- offering far more variety than typical single-sector FRA roles.
You will be part of a growing, multidisciplinary team producing Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Impact Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies, and hydrological studies. The role combines technical delivery, collaboration across teams, and opportunities to shape how we work as our service offering grows.
While you will receive support from senior colleagues, you should be confident using key software such as
MS Word
,
AutoCAD and InfoDrainage
for the purposes of drainage strategy and report production.
What You'll Do:
With wider team support, independently produce water environment related client project reports, including hydrological assessments, flood risk assessments and sustainable drainage strategies.
Ensure the deliverables are in accordance with the national and local flood risk and drainage policy, legislation and best practice.
Take an active role within Gavia's quality assurance process, providing checking of drainage deliverables and constructive feedback to the team.
Undertake site visits to collate data on flood risk and drainage.
Assist with key stakeholder liaison and consultation including EA, SEPA, LLFAs, IDBs and Sewerage Undertakers.
Attend design team meetings, providing accurate consultancy advice.
Work collaboratively with the flood risk, peatland hydrology, ecology, construction and aquatics specialists within Gavia to provide coordinated deliverables to our clients.
Support with the production of bids, proposals and tenders.
What We're Looking For
:
Essential:
A degree within a civil engineering or environmental subject or equivalent experience
Awareness of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies
A sound understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and statutory duties relating to surface water drainage
Experience of delivering and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments/Flood Consequence Assessments and or Drainage Strategies to supporting planning applications
Experience of stakeholder engagement both internally and externally on projects or responding to customer queries and requests for information
Experience of writing technical and non-technical reports
Experience of and confidence of working independently with modelling software such as InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow and AutoCAD for design drawing production
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A full UK driving license
Desirable:
2+ years industry experience within drainage and surface water management
Experience, knowledge and passion for drainage, the environment and sustainability
Working in Flood Risk Management in the private or public sector (such as the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities or Internal Drainage Boards)
