FLORIST/GROWER

Location: North Oxfordshire (OX17) Nr. Banbury

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Dependent on experience

ABOUT US

Naum Flower is a floristry brand, part of Naum House, specializing in creating and installing exceptional florals for high-end clients and events. The successful candidate will share their passion for sustainability, and the responsibility for the daily management of our floristry contracts while simultaneously immersing themselves in cut flower production.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Florist/Grower with the expertise to both channel their creativity into the most ravishing flowers for our high-end clientele and actively contribute to our flower growing operation. You'll partner closely with our Senior Grower/Florist--and the wider floristry team--to provide comprehensive support to the business throughout the year.

This is fundamentally a dynamic people-person position; we need someone passionate about collaborating with florists, freelancers, and the rest of our growing team. The role's scope also covers essential planning, meticulous workspace maintenance, ensuring the operational readiness of equipment and vehicles across all sites, and documenting our work for marketing.

The ideal candidate embodies a can-do attitude and possesses the hard grafter's ability to deliver on varied briefs in all weather conditions. While a flower's ethereal beauty is captivating, it remains a perishable product requiring sound practical skills. The most accomplished floristry seamlessly marries common-sense pragmatism with curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation of nature.

Our culture thrives on collaboration--you must be willing to both give and receive guidance on design techniques and constructive, relevant feedback. Yet, we also value and celebrate the opportunity for independent creative expression that certain elements of our floristry work afford the artist.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

? Design and handcraft high-quality floral arrangements, bouquets, and installations that perfectly align with the client brief and our established aesthetic, always striving to bring something truly special.

? Provide vital hands-on support and maintain regular communication with our key contract clients, securing the longevity of our installations and fostering excellent working relationships.

? Perform a regular weekly delivery of our flowers to our contract clients in Oxfordshire to gain a thorough, inside-out understanding of the contract requirements.

? Support the Senior Grower/Florist in managing day-to-day operations, providing cover during absences, and collaborating during peak periods.

? Assist with the execution of irregular, bespoke one-off arrangement requests, supplies ordering and stock rotation.

? Cultivate and maintain strong supplier relationships, continuously actively researching new ones to enrich our network of trusted contacts.

? Oversee flower care and conditioning processes to guarantee longevity and quality.

? Ensure all working materials are as eco-friendly and sustainably sourced as possible, while understanding the necessity of working with imported, intensively farmed flowers during the winter months and for specific brand promotions.

? Proactively offer creative and constructive solutions to streamline business processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and profitability.

? Create video and still footage of the flowers and floristry as a routine part of the working week (documenting cutting garden developments, seasonal visuals, grower techniques, etc.) for use on Naum Flower's social media channels.

? Maintain internal digital filing for easy reference and accessibility (to include documenting projects and installations)

? Contribute to cut flower production tasks, including maintenance, propagation, planting, pruning, staking, weeding, foraging, harvesting, and conditioning.

? Strictly adhere to organic and regenerative practices, utilizing no-dig or minimum tillage systems; developing and managing all composting systems; and following the brand's core principles of environmentally sustainable practices across all planning and activity, including the use of green manures, compost teas, cover crops, and rotational planning.

? Assist in the maintenance and impeccable organization of our workspaces, vases, vehicles, and tools as required - to include keeping inventories up to date, and to uphold safe and welcoming working environments, regardless of the location.

? Support the Senior Grower/Florist in maintaining strong and reliable attention to detail across all administrative duties, including collaborating during winter months to reorganise all internal digital systems in preparation for the upcoming growing season.

? Attend a weekly team meeting with the Naum Flower florists and growers.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

? At least three years' experience in a floristry business environment, understanding floral design trends and colour palettes.

? At least two growing season's experience of cut flower production or horticulture business environment.

? A keen interest in learning about seasonal planning.

? Very good computer proficiency (including competency with Excel spreadsheets, understanding formulae, social media platforms, Apple devices, Dropbox and miscellaneous photography equipment).

? A full, clean UK driving licence and the ability to drive the business van regularly.

? Must be expertly organised, responsible, and demonstrate a very positive, proud attitude towards their work.

? An exceptional communicator who collaborates effectively and can offer guidance and support when needed.

? A willingness and ability to work hard is essential--this is primarily a manual, physical job with some administrative responsibilities.

? A flexible approach to working hours is necessary-- adapting your hours when necessary to cover occasional early mornings, some evenings, and weekend working will be required as part of the role.

? You must be comfortable working in all weathers and possess the expertise to plan the working week around weather conditions, always considering the health of the soil or picking schedules.

Longevity in previous roles is essential. Offers will be subject to successful referencing.
