FIXED TERM (until 31/03/26 with potential to extend past this date subject to funding)

It is vital that you demonstrate how you meet the 'essential' criteria listed in the Person Specification, in order to secure an interview: How to apply - guidance for applicants | Torfaen County Borough Council

Flying Start is one of Welsh Governments flagship programmes to support families with children aged 0-4 years. One of the key parts of this programme is Childcare and this area has recently been expanded to more families across Torfaen.

This role will be key to promoting the Flying Start Childcare Offer within Torfaen, raising awareness of the benefits of Flying Start to families and to the Childcare Sector.

By undertaking the role, you will engage and support eligible families within the community to access Flying Start Childcare. You will partake in engagement events with families to provide information and to make links with all relevant partners and key stakeholders.

You will gain an understanding of what is stopping some families from applying for childcare and this information will be used to improve this service for families. Whilst speaking Welsh isn't essential, it is essential that you understand the benefits of bilingualism in young children and promote this as part of the childcare offer.

Often you will need to work in more than one location a day. You must be able to travel around the County Borough.

For an informal discussion regarding this vacancy please contact Emma Treadgold, Flying Start Manager on 01633 647360 or emma.treadgold@torfaen.gov.uk

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants which will include an Enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service

.

Torfaen County Borough Council strive to be a fair, supportive and effective employer. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The Council expects all employees, paid or unpaid, to share this commitment.

You are welcome to submit your application form in English or in Welsh. Each application will be treated equally.
