What it's like to work here:A note from Nicola (F&B Manager): "We have a happy and hardworking team here at Gibside. We're looking for a like-minded Team Leader to join us. Someone who can demonstrate the ability and drive to 'hit the ground running,' be very hands on as part of the team (both back & front of house) and who wants to be part of achieving our realistic and fulfilling goals. This role is incredibly varied and will suit someone with great initiative - A driving license would be beneficial (but not essential) as senior team members can drive the on-site vehicles to move stock and travel between outlets.

The right candidate for us is always thinking ahead to ensure every shift is prepped for success. We want the food & drink experience at Gibside to be easy and enjoyable for every visitor and every team member too.

Our focus is on the future - with our cafe space newly renovated and a new wood-fired pizza outlet on site, this is an exciting time. When you join us, you'll work alongside our current kitchen & front of house teams and play a vital role in improving our food and drink offer whilst looking for new opportunities to grow our business for the rest of the year and beyond. Every penny we make contributes to maintaining our heritage and beautiful estate at Gibside, for everyone for ever. If this is the role for you, we really can't wait to meet you!"

Using your excellent eye for detail, you will spend time in the kitchen, helping to prepare and present delicious food from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Your food will be served directly to visitors.

Using the framework of our National Trust recipe cards, you'll prepare, measure and mix ingredients. You'll help with deliveries and with keeping the kitchen clean, to be compliant with health and safety legislation and to make sure that service runs smoothly.

You will use your initiative to control stock, manage orders and reduce waste to help us to meet our sustainability goals and align with the National Trust strategy.

You'll also be supervising the induction and training of colleagues, to help build a team that's dedicated to great service and to giving people a day to remember.

We'll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. You can sign up for further professional training and development if you wish.
