Gunwalloe Cafe is a small but mighty National Trust outlet perched right on the edge of the wild Cornish coastline. Serving everything from cream teas to beach friendly snacks, we're a close-knit team working in one of the most breathtaking spots in Cornwall.


We're currently looking for enthusiastic, reliable seasonal team members who love great food, friendly service, and don't mind a bit of wind in their hair.


Because Gunwalloe is in a rural area, please think about how you'd be able to get here for work, before you apply for this job. There is no public transport to the cafe.

Contract/ working hours:

This role is an hourly paid, fixed term position. Wherever possible, we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we're looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We'd give you as much notice of this as possible. The role will include weekends and Bank Holidays, however, there are no evenings or split shifts. Flexible weekend availability is essential. A typical shift may range between 9:00 - 18:00 (18:00 being the latest end to a day and only in the summer holidays).


There may be shifts available also at Penrose The Stables Cafe, which is part of the same portfolio, some flexibility between locations may be required.


Salary:

12.25 per hour.

What you'll be doing:As a Team Member, your main focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people. You'll welcome and look after everyone who comes to the cafe. With your love of working with people, your 'can-do' attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service, you'll be making sure everyone has an enjoyable time. This is a lively business that's constantly on the go, so teamwork and adaptability are crucial.



You'll be keen to understand what people want, to help them and to make recommendations. You'll always keep the standards of food and drink preparation and presentation high. Using your excellent eye for detail, you'll make sure all displays and signs are accurate and looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food.



We'll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. You can sign up for further professional training and development if you wish.
