The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Food Safety & Quality Technician. Reporting into the Food Safety & Quality Manager, you will be responsible for all raw materials, packaging and finished products are tested and positively released in line with Corporate Quality, Customer and BRC Food Safety standards and in conjunction with the Master Production Schedule deadlines.
Responsibilities
Test finished goods and raw materials using specified testing methods.
Test Gluten presence using Elisa method.
Verify the test results to ensure that they conform to customer specifications and are in line with the Corporate Quality Standards.
Keep and maintain records (both electronically and hard copies) while ensuring that all information is easily retrievable, readable and accurate.
Retain finished products and raw materials samples, ensuring that samples are kept in good condition, are traceable and, on request, can be retrieved in timely manner for further assessment.
Preparation, including logging using defined portals, of any samples required to be tested externally.
Log, follow up and close, with the support from your line manager where required, any production non-conformances. Ensure that detailed overview of the issue is recorded, corrective and preventative actions are implemented, investigation records and any corrective and preventative action details are retained, maintained and are readable and easily retrievable.
Log and follow up supplier non-conformities ensuring that detailed and accurate information is provided. Review of supplier responses before submitting for final actioning by your line manager.
Ensure that lab and working area is always clean by following clean as you go policies.
Maintain safe working environment and highlight any safety concerns to your line manager.
Always adhere to good working practices as set out in the Corporate Quality, Corporate Sanitation, Corporate Manufacturing and Customers and BRC standards.
Respond to internal and external request including customers as directed by your line manager.
Complete internal audits as per the frequencies set up by your line manager.
Complete CCP and Hygiene checks as per the frequencies defined by your line manager.
Support Pest Management program as specified by your line manager.
Support HACCP team as specified by your line manager.
Cooperate and maintain positive working relationship with other teams in the business.
Person Specification
Essential:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good numeracy skills
Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
Intermediate knowledge or understanding of Food Safety and Quality
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Basic knowledge of Health & Safety
Ability to problem solve
Computer literate
Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Willing to work different shifts
Desirable:
Previous QA experience
Basic Health & Safety and Food Safety qualifications
Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
Hours of Work:
Core hours of work are either 07.00-19.00 or 11.00-23.00, on a 12 hour continental shift pattern, working weekends and bank holidays. However, flexibility is required to meet the demands of the business.
