Job Description

Description

Join one of the UK's fastest-growing premium fresh food brands and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our award-winning fresh pasta products. As a

food technologist

at Pasta Evangelists, you will ensure that our products are safe, compliant and delicious, and ready for launch -- all while working at the heart of innovation in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will work closely with the NPD team to make sure all technical systems are updated during new launches, check product artwork, packaging and labelling, and liaise regularly with suppliers to obtain all required information.

What you'll do at Pasta Evangelists:

Technical Ownership & Compliance:

Set up external product specifications. Generate accurate pack copy that meets all legal and retailer-specific requirements. Oversee the completion and approval of back-of-pack information, retailer labels and artwork to ensure compliance with technical labelling policies and regulatory standards. Maintain all technical information across internal digital systems to guarantee product safety, traceability and compliance. Apply your knowledge of BRCGS Issue 9, particularly with regard to supplier approval, supplier risk assessment, raw material compliance and label approval/sign-off. Conduct due diligence on products to ensure compliance with all technical policies, labelling regulations and new or changing legislation.

Supplier Approval & Raw Materials:

Review and approve raw material specifications using digital specification systems. Lead the onboarding and approval of new suppliers using supplier questionnaires, verification checks and compliance documentation. Evaluate supplier performance to ensure that raw materials meet quality, safety and regulatory standards.

Product Development & Launch Excellence:

Collaborate closely with the NPD and EPD teams to support the development of new and improved products from concept to launch. Participate in product design and industrialisation phases and technical feasibility assessments. Ensure critical paths are met to guarantee timely and compliant product launches. Following final recipe sign-off, prepare production monitoring forms and documentation. Coordinate and sign off technical validations, including product testing, shelf-life assessments and organoleptic evaluations. Oversee production trials and promote a culture of technical excellence among production teams through training and hands-on support.

Continuous Improvement and Diagnostics:

Manage recurring technical or consumer-reported issues by defining clear diagnostic processes and identifying corrective actions. Conduct nutritional and technical benchmarking as required to drive continuous improvement.

Who you are:

You have a background in food science, chemistry, nutrition or a related field. A strong understanding of food safety regulations, UK/EU food labelling legislation and industry standards is essential. Experience of using digital technical systems to manage raw material specifications, artwork approval and supplier compliance. Exceptionally organised and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You are a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills and the confidence to drive activities independently. You are a collaborative communicator who enjoys working cross-functionally in an international team environment. Knowledge of chilled food production would be beneficial, but is not essential. Creativity and a passion for great food, especially pasta! Experience with NPD/EPD processes and bringing new products to market. ... A Pasta lover!

About Pasta Evangelists

Pasta Evangelists

was born nine years ago out of a desire to become the authority in fresh pasta. We're on a mission to reimagine and elevate pasta as a category, which is worth a staggering 3.8bn yet has seen little innovation for decades.

Since launching our original fresh pasta recipe kit service in 2016, we have built a cult following of British pasta lovers - our Evangelists - who are passionate about discovering the breadth and variety of pasta, as well as the irresistible stories behind it.

Today,

Pasta Evangelists is backed by Barilla

(the world's biggest pasta company) and is proud to be the

UK's biggest pasta brand by revenues, as well as one of the

UK's fastest-growing startups

. In addition to our website, our recipe kits are also available for customers to purchase through major online retailers like Ocado.

Building on this success, we are now disrupting

Britain's pizza-centric Italian dining scene

with the launch of our very own Pasta Evangelists restaurants along with our

high-end Harrods Pasta Bar

. These are not just Italian eateries -- they are vibrant destinations where guests can experience the extraordinary diversity of pasta, alongside exceptional service, bold creativity, and a true passion for great food. You can visit us at our first locations in Chiswick, Richmond, Greenwich and Farringdon, where guests can enjoy a delicious meal and also take part in our much loved pasta-making classes.

At the same time, we continue to expand our fresh pasta takeaway concept, available on pastaevangelists.com and through major delivery platforms like

Deliveroo, UberEats and JustEat.

With more than 40 kitchens now operating across the UK -- including in Scotland and Wales -- we are growing our footprint rapidly and bringing fresh pasta to more customers every day.

Our state-of-the-art

Pastificio in Acton, West London -- the largest in the UK -- enables us to produce a wide range of artisanal pasta and sauces, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in this beloved category.

Looking ahead, our key focus is on opening more restaurants and creating unique spaces that celebrate pasta in all its shapes, offering something far beyond the traditional Italian experience.

Given our ambitions, we are looking for exceptional professionals to lead our business through this next exciting chapter of growth.
