The Food Specification Technologist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing accurate product and raw material specifications for both
Bebeto branded confectionery
and
private label confectionery products supplied to key UK retailers,
ensuring full compliance with food safety, legal, quality, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Create, review, and maintain
finished product and raw material specifications
for:
Bebeto branded confectionery products
Private label confectionery supplied to major UK retailers
Ensure all specifications comply with
UK food legislation,
retailer-specific requirements, and internal technical standards
Manage retailer specification systems and internal databases, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and version control
Liaise with suppliers to obtain and verify ingredient, allergen, nutritional, and technical data
Ensure accurate
ingredient declarations, allergen statements, nutritional information, and country-of-origin data
Support
new product development (NPD)
and product changes across branded and own-label ranges
Manage specification updates following recipe, process, artwork, or regulatory changes
Act as the technical point of contact for specification-related queries from UK retail customers and internal teams
Prepare and maintain documentation to support
internal, customer, and third-party audits
Monitor changes in food legislation and retailer standards and assess impact on existing products
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Degree or equivalent qualification in
Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related discipline
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the food industry with UK retailers,
in a technical, QA, or specifications-focused role
Proven experience managing
retailer specifications for own-label and/or branded products
Strong understanding of
UK food labelling legislation,
allergen management, and retailer requirements
Experience using
UK retailer specification systems
Desirable:
Experience within
confectionery manufacturing or supply
Familiarity with BRCGS, HACCP, and UK retailer technical standards
Experience supporting both
branded and private label
product portfolios

Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to manage multiple retailer requirements simultaneously
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Confident communicator with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders
Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities
Working Conditions
The role requires you to be in the
office 4 days a week
(South West London)
,
with
1 day remote working
Occasional visits to factories, suppliers, or customer sites
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 35,000.00-45,000.00 per year
