We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Football Coach to join our youth engagement programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the community development work of the Town Council through football, working with young people aged 11-18 years in targeted areas. Responsibilities include delivering planned football sessions, supporting participants and maintaining a positive, safe environment.
The role includes managing attendance, coordinating teams, officiating small-sided matches, and applying behaviour management strategies.
Responsibilities
Engaging with young people by
Building positive relationships and encouraging participation through football and related activities
Session delivery
Delivering pre-planned age appropriate engaging football training sessions promoting skill development and enjoyment
Take the opportunity to improve your skills in the area of planning for age specific delivery through mentorship with our UEFA qualified coach
Organise team practices, drills, and game strategies to optimise player performance
Coordinate with other coaches and staff to ensure smooth operation of the programme
Promote fair play, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude among all participants
Safety and Wellbeing
Ensure safety protocols are adhered to during all activities and maintain a safe environment for players
Event Support
Assist with the organisation and delivery of tournaments, matches and other events.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitor player progress and maintain accurate records of attendance and development
Requirements
Awareness of Youth work procedures and an ability to effectively communicate with young people
Proven experience in sports coaching, preferably within football or similar team sports
Strong teaching skills with the ability to motivate and inspire players of varying ages and abilities
Excellent organisational skills to plan effective training sessions and manage team logistics
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with players, parents, and staff
A recognised coaching qualification, FA Level 1 or willingness to obtain one is desirable
DBS clearance / a willingness to undergo DBS check
A passion for sport, youth development, and fostering teamwork within a community setting
Qualification in Youth Work, Community Development, Education or a related field is desirable
Knowledge of local issues affecting young people (e.g Mental Health, Education, Employment) would also enhance your suitability for the role
Additional Information
This role is for a Friday Evening from 5:30 to 9 / 9:30pm
Training and development opportunities are available along with additional hours and expansion into working with the wider Community Engagement Team
