Football Transactions Manager - Women's and Academy

Location: Carrington Training Ground

The Purpose:

The Football Transactions Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering Manchester United's football and squad strategy by leading and supporting high-value player acquisitions, contracts, and negotiations--primarily across the Women's and Academy teams, with additional involvement in Men's First Team transactions. This role requires a strong legal and contractual foundation to ensure deals are executed efficiently, strategically, and in alignment with club values and long-term objectives.

The Role:

Work in close collaboration with the Director of Football Negotiations, Academy Director, Head of Women's Football and Loans & Pathways Manager to secure best-value outcomes in player acquisitions, contract negotiations, loans, renewals, and player sales. Prepare well-informed proposals supported by robust benchmarking data on salaries, bonuses, and market trends, ensuring consistency and strategy in all player negotiations and contract offers. Support the development of strong, long-term relationships with player agents, representing both current squad members and prospective signings. Build and maintain trusted relationships with executives at other clubs to gain valuable market insight, helping to inform smart and strategic recruitment decisions. Gather and analyse market intelligence through club networks, internal analysis, and external market mapping--providing insight into other clubs' squads, strategies, and financial positioning. Coordinate closely with internal departments to ensure the smooth, timely, and accurate execution of all administrative and approval processes linked to player contracts and transfers. Deliver high-quality, seamless player signing sessions, working with internal teams to ensure every step of the acquisition process meets the club's elite standards. Embrace and promote Manchester United's footballing culture--defined by ambition, a commitment to winning, exciting attacking football, and a deep belief in youth development across both men's and women's teams. Uphold the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and trust while working with senior football leadership and colleagues across the club. Contribute to a high-performance, winning environment that reflects and reinforces the club's football strategy, values, and long-term vision. Play an active role in recruitment meetings for the Academy and Women's teams, offering strategic insight and collaborative input to support decision-making. Support additional projects and initiatives as required by the Director of Football Negotiations in alignment with the club's evolving football priorities

Demonstrated success in negotiating and acquiring elite football or sports talent, with a proven ability to identify and secure high-potential individuals. Inspirational and results-driven leader within football or sports environments, consistently focused on improving performance through rigorous analysis of both successes and setbacks. Act as a strategic connector, ensuring seamless communication and alignment across departments regarding player-related decisions. Deep market insight, with a nuanced understanding of player motivations, availability, transfer costs, and the broader competitive landscape. High emotional intelligence with the ability to build trust and foster strong, lasting relationships across all levels of the organisation. Excellent communicator, confident in articulating ideas and strategies both verbally and in writing. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, combining a positive, can-do mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach. Maintains composure and sound judgment when operating under pressure or during high-stakes situations. Collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments and excels in leading multifaceted projects.
