Division / Department - Corporate Development Grade - Grade 8 Status - Part Time Contract Type - Permanent Salary Grade Range - £22,599 - £24,546 Working Hours - 18.5 Hours per Week The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time. The Role The position being offered is a part time post 18.5 hours per week working Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays. The post is based at Sussex Police Headquarters and you will be expected to work from that location. As a Force Research Bureau Operator you will be an expert point of contact for all matters involving the Police National Computer (PNC) within Sussex Police. The role also involves researching appropriate force systems together with PNC and the Police National Database (PND). Key Responsibilities You will responsible for:

  • Creating, updating and quality controlling information onto the Police National Computer and other police systems.
  • Helping to provide a 24 hour service and research capability to Sussex Police, external forces and partner agencies.
  • Maintaining a high degree of integrity when dealing with sensitive and classified information.
  • Demonstrating a flexible & adaptable approach to work and be able to work independently.
  • Being resilient to working within a busy environment.
  • Communicating and advising officers and staff at all levels.
Skills & Experience Essential
  • Excellent IT skills and proven ability to learn and interrogate multiple systems.
  • Ability to analyse large amounts of information in differing formats and effectively summarise the key points.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, together with good verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of integrity when dealing with sensitive and classified information.
  • Ability to work independently and be resilient to working in a busy environment.
Desirable skills:
  • Knowledge of PNC and other police systems
  • Full Driving Licence
