We are recruiting for a Forensic Imaging Technician

Working within Joint Protective Services (Scientific Services Unit), this is an exciting and challenging opportunity to provide an accessible and resilient CCTV and VIPER service supporting local investigations for Bedfordshire Police and Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies.

You will report to the Forensic Imaging Supervisor and you will be part of a team of 9 Forensic Imaging Technicians, making footage from CCTV systems of suspects and incidents available to investigators and Criminal Justice partners for expeditious disposal of cases and running identification procedures for known suspects.

This role will also involve extensive liaison with case officers, victims, witnesses, appropriate adults, interpreters and solicitors to ensure that the identification procedure is carried out in a lawful and timely manner.

Please note that this role follows a shift pattern, and on call weekend work is mandatory, one weekend every nine weeks. There will be times where you are required to stay on past the end of your shift in order to complete the identification process in line with the Custody PACE clock and bail demands.

The successful candidate should have: current experience and understanding of investigative and Criminal Justice processes; knowledge of CCTV or other digital image capture systems or the aptitude to learn; the ability to understand and apply relevant legal requirements, keeping up to date with changes to the law, case law, codes of practice and statutory guidance, and the ability to maintain accurate records and statistics on electronic databases. Attention to detail and the ability to adapt at short notice is critical in this role.

The ability to travel across all three forces is also required, therefore you must have a full driving license, access to a vehicle and full business insurance.

If shortlisted for an interview, a competence test will form part of the interview process and you will be invited to attend a psychological assessment due to the nature of the role whereby you will be handling and viewing distressing, sensitive and graphic audio and video material and engaging with suspects and victims of high level crimes as a lone worker.
