Working across five Regions that cover the whole country, our operational teams are key to helping us look after the 9% of Scotland's land area in our care and making sure our national forests and land delivers as much as it can.
Forestry and Land Scotland's
East Region
manages approximately
93,000 hectares
of public land--from the coastal pinewoods of Moray and Fife through Aberdeenshire to Perthshire--encompassing iconic sites such as Tay Forest Park and key open habitats including blanket bog and native woodlands.
East region delivers around
22.5 million in annual income
, mainly through sustainable timber harvesting and commercial leases, while also leading initiatives in peatland restoration, renewable energy developments, and woodland creation. The team is highly multidisciplinary, coordinating forestry operations, environmental planning, construction, stakeholder engagement, and recreation management across a varied landscape of commercial forests, open habitats, and recreational assets

Job description
In this role you'll be responsible for delivery of a programme of work, for example planting and maintaining the forest; rewetting peatland and managing habitats; and ensuring timely and efficient timber supply to customers.
Whatever role you hold, you'll be the engine room of the organisation, directly delivering
Scotland's biodiversity and climate change objectives, supporting the economy and contributing to local communities.
You need to be flexible in your working approach and pride yourself on being approachable, proactive and creative. To be effective you will need to plan and manage your workload and time, be forward looking, a team player who works with colleagues to deliver collaborative, creative and professional results.

Person specification
Essential:
Experience in forestry or related land management work;
A motivated individual, with a passion for the environment and delivering against climate change;
Ability to solve problems on your own and as part of a team;
Excellent communications skills across all stakeholder levels;
The ability to manage and prioritise your own and your team's work;
Be competent in the use of computers and software such as Microsoft office applications;
Be willing to learn and improve your own skills through training and mentoring.
Desirable:
Experience in the delivery and/or planning of forestry or land management operations, including contract management;
Knowledge and experience of applying Health and Safety in the work environment.
Technical
Essential:
Have or be working towards a further education qualification in a forestry related discipline; for example a HND or undergraduate degree;
+ Or Significant transferable experience in a discipline relevant to forestry or land management including environmental management, construction, etc. and the willingness to achieve relevant qualifications.
Desirable:
Membership of Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) or other relevant professional institute.
