As part of our ongoing commitment to recruiting exceptional foster carers, we are looking for a warm, organised, and proactive Fostering Enquiries & Screening Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, can assess suitability with sensitivity, and wants to make a meaningful difference in children's lives.

Family Care is a family-owned, independent fostering agency with a proud track record of supporting children and young people across the Northwest and West Midlands. We believe in the power of stable, nurturing foster homes and the importance of providing dedicated support to our carers.



About the Role:



You'll be the first voice new enquirers hear, playing a vital role in welcoming potential foster carers and helping them take their first step. Through phone calls and digital communication, you'll screen applicants, answer queries, and guide them through the early stages of their fostering journey.



Hours:

Part-time 20 hours per week over five days, Monday to Friday, 4pm to 8pm; remote working with occasional travel to Chorley office.



Key Responsibilities:



Make timely first contact with fostering enquiries by phone, email, social media and live chat

Carry out structured screening calls to assess initial eligibility and motivation

Record accurate notes and timely updates in the CRM system

Provide clear and supportive information about the fostering process

Build rapport with prospective carers, maintaining regular contact where needed

Refer suitable applicants to the fostering team for further consideration and follow-up

Support digital recruitment campaigns and events where required

Monitor and respond to messages through the website's live chat

Contribute to regular reporting on enquiries and conversion data



What We're Looking For:



Essential



Excellent verbal communication and people skills

A confident and empathetic phone manner

Ability to sensitively explore personal topics with prospective carers

Experience in fostering, social care, recruitment, or similar

Strong organisational and IT skills (CRM or database experience preferred)

A proactive attitude and ability to work independently from home

A genuine passion for improving the lives of children

Self-motivated

Driving Licence and access to a car



Desirable



Flexibility to work some weekends.

Knowledge of the fostering process and relevant legislation.
