At the heart and soul of London since 1895 West Ham United is a dynamic, fan-focused football Club constantly moving forward but always with an eye on the past.
Our home at the London Stadium has a capacity of 62,500 making it one of the biggest club Stadia in the country however our tickets are the lowest priced for London based clubs in the Premier League, echoing objectives to create Affordable Family Football.
In 2018, our Women's team gained a professional status for the very first time, jumping 2 divisions and competed in the Women's Super League (WSL), the premier division of women's football in England. After finishing a respectable 7th, the team enjoyed particular success in the FA Cup reaching the final of the competition, eventually being beaten by 2017 winners Manchester City.
In April 2019, we opened our brand-new Academy facility based at Chadwell Heath which will help to bring through some of the very best talents in the area, the recent emergence of First Team Players Declan Rice and Ben Johnson are a testament to the work already being done at the Academy.
On the business side, we are continuing to create a Stadium our supporters can call home, with the renaming of the Billy Bonds Stand and Claret and Blue pitch surrounding amongst the latest developments. Additionally, the Club has achieved the Disability Confident Leader status.

Job Purpose
The award-winning West Ham United Foundation (WHUF) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, enhancing brand visibility, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement, in support of the organisation's initiatives and charitable objectives.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Communications & Fundraising, the Marketing & Communications Manager will be part of West Ham United Foundation's central team, working with colleagues across both the Foundation and the Club.
The Foundation is currently entering a growth phase, with the opening of its 4.7m community hub redevelopment in the heart of east London, and seeking a creative, strategic manager who will help to fulfil the organisation's objectives.
Main Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with organisational goals.
  • Support fundraising, stakeholder and partner engagement, events and campaign strategies through targeted communication efforts.
  • Coordinate brand development and ensure consistency across platforms: website, social media, email, print materials, and events.
  • Oversee the use of assets across partners and stakeholders, in line with brand guidelines and agreements - delivering department audits and
frameworks
  • Manage digital assets and tools ensuring engaging, accessible, and up-to-date content.
  • Develop compelling content - storytelling, campaigns, press releases, newsletters, reports, presentations - that communicates impact and
strengthens connection with audiences.
  • Lead creative projects from ideation to execution, including approvals, budget and timeline control.
  • Enhance media relations and secure coverage that amplifies brand message. Prep spokespeople, handle media enquiries, and draft PR copy.
  • Support production of annual reports or impact reports as needed.
  • Provide leadership, line management, mentorship, and performance guidance where appropriate.
  • Embrace and support positive team culture, supporting the Foundation's aims and objectives.
  • Represent the organisation at activities and assist internal stakeholders with communications needs.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level in relevant subjects (e.g. Communications, Marketing) or equivalent.

  • Previous management experience
  • Creative, analytical and dynamic
  • Understanding of CMS and analytics
  • Experience using tools such as Canva and MailChimp
  • Good time management
  • Strong communication skills and excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours on evening and weekends when required
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload
  • A genuine team player with good inter-personal skills
  • Ability to connect with audiences in a meaningful way
