Freelance Conservation Facilitator/teacher

Remote, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are looking for a freelance Facilitator to deliver two short online group sessions each week to young people aged 11+ who are studying environmental and green skills qualifications from home.

These sessions are not formal lessons. You will not be delivering core curriculum content, but instead will be nurturing interest through discussion, introducing key vocabulary, and breaking down the weekly activity.

About Us

The Therapy Adventure is a therapist-led organisation delivering inclusive, nature-based qualifications for young people. Many of our learners are home-educated or have additional needs, including neurodivergence, SEND, or mental health challenges.

Our approach is supportive and flexible, with a strong focus on wellbeing support and accessibility.

What You'll Do

You'll deliver two 30-minute live online sessions every Tuesday morning, from 9:30 to 10:00am and 10:00 to 10:30am.

Each session is designed to support learners as they engage with weekly tasks from their qualification. You'll help them understand what's expected, explain key vocabulary, and explore real-world connections to the topic. This might include responding to a learner's personal interest or introducing a relevant news story or seasonal event that brings the week's theme to life.

All sessions are pre-planned by our team. You will have 30 minutes of paid prep time per 30-minute session to review the plan, familiarise yourself with the materials, and bring in your own interests, insights or additional research.

Who We're Looking For

You should be confident leading small group discussions online and able to create an environment where learners feel relaxed, seen, and included. You should have experience working with children or young people who are neurodivergent, have SEND, or experience mental health challenges.

You must either hold a minimum of a Level 3 teaching qualification or have equivalent experience in educational, youth, or therapeutic settings. We're particularly looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about sustainability, conservation, or climate topics and who can bring real-world curiosity and warmth to the role.

Payment and Support

You will be paid 30 per hour, which includes 30 minutes of paid preparation time per 30-minute session. For two sessions per week, this totals 60 for one hour of delivery and one hour of prep.

If you are asked to support with additional block planning, marking, or resource development beyond your sessions, this will be paid separately.

A member of our team will co-deliver with you during sessions in the initial 3-4 months, and ongoing support will always be available if needed.

How to Apply

To apply, please send a CV along with a cover letter stating why you are a good fit for this role and what has motivated you to apply. All applications require a cover letter in order to be considered

Applications will be reviewed as they come in, so we encourage early application. We are aiming to confirm the successful candidate by the end of August.

Start Date

The role will begin with one co-delivered session per week from mid September, increasing to two sessions per week from mid October.
