The Role

We are looking for a passionate and engaging ESOL Tutor to join our expanding delivery team on a freelance basis (6 hours per week for 12 weeks). This role is specifically to deliver a contract for night shift workers at a local Northampton factory, so the times of lessons are non-negotiable and need to be between 5.30am and 7.30am.There is potential for additional hours as new contracts come on stream.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality ESOL sessions to adult learners from diverse backgrounds, who work in a food producing environment. You will be working in a supportive and rewarding environment with a strong focus on progression and personalised learning.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, deliver and evaluate ESOL lessons (Entry 1 to Level 2)



Support learners in developing English for everyday life, community participation, and in the workplace



Differentiate materials and teaching strategies to meet learners' varying levels



Embed digital skills where appropriate



Monitor and assess learner progress, providing meaningful feedback



Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting requirements



Provide IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) to support learner progression



Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement



Ensure compliance with safeguarding, quality assurance and funding requirements



Person Specification

Essential:

Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent) or willingness to undertake training



Experience teaching ESOL or Functional Skills English to adults



Strong interpersonal and communication skills



Ability to motivate and engage diverse learners



Commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and learner-centred practice



Proficiency in preparing accessible, inclusive learning resources



Desirable:

IAG Level 2 qualification



Experience working with diverse groups of learners



Understanding of the challenges facing adults with ESOL needs or low literacy



Assessment qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Award in Assessing)
