Freelance Garment Technician & Designer

The Oxford Shirt Company is a premium British clothing brand known for high-quality shirts and refined wardrobe staples. The business is rapidly expanding, with ambitious growth plans across menswear and womenswear, spanning both formal and casual collections. We are seeking an experienced Freelance Garment Technician & Designer to support product development during this important phase of growth.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a growing brand at a pivotal stage, contributing to the development and scaling of both formal and casual product categories. For the right individual, there is scope for the role to evolve over time, with increasing responsibility and continuity as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

Producing detailed and accurate technical packs (measurements, construction details, grading, BOMs) Liaising directly with existing and new factories and suppliers to manage development, fit comments, and production requirements Reviewing proto, fit, and pre-production samples, providing clear, commercial, and actionable feedback Supporting fit development across formal and casual styles within both menswear and womenswear Sourcing, specifying, and approving trims, components, and fabrics Supporting garment design and product development across shirts and adjacent categories Maintaining organised records of revisions, approvals, and production documentation including monitoring critical paths and delivery dates

About You

Proven experience as a Garment Technician, Technical Designer, or Fashion Designer Strong technical knowledge of woven garments, with experience in formal and casual wear (shirt experience highly desirable) Experience working across menswear and/or womenswear Confident producing and managing tech packs independently Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and quality control Comfortable working directly with existing and new UK and overseas factories Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously Clear, professional communicator - a sense of humour highly desirable

Pay: 15.00-35.00 per hour
