Closing Date30th September, 2019 The purpose of the role is to provide internal quality assurance, support, advice and guidance for staff members aligned to the Performing Manufacturing Operations (PMO) programmes. With the use of InterLearns sampling plans, documents and e-portfolio system, you will carry out sampling arrangements of the programme to ensure that the work of the learner and feedback from the assessor are of the appropriate standard. You will be required to conduct two standardisation sessions per year, as well as offering individual training and support to delivery staff. You will report your findings back to the Head of Quality in order to ensure that key drivers are put in place to improve InterLearn's provision.


  • To carry out IQA activity aligned to the PMO programmes
  • To check and challenge reference to maths and English within learner work
  • To ensure that the learner is meeting the requirements of the programme
  • To ensure that the assessor is providing accurate and effective levels of feedback to the learner
  • To provide advice and guidance on how work and evidence can be improved
  • To document and monitor the performance of assessors and learners
  • To report findings back to the Head of Quality in order to ensure that key drivers can be reported back and embedded
  • To provide a minimum of two standardisation sessions per year, including the development of materials based on key findings from sampling activities
  • Ensure that feedback is clear, concise and that deadlines set are met in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the e-portfolio is kept up to date and used correctly in order to give a clear oversight of feedback left to the assessor
  • To ensure that the company's commitment to quality remains high at all times
  • You must attend remote monthly 1:1s with the Head of Quality
  • To lead on the quality assurance of the PMO framework and set high expectations at all times
  • Ensure that your judgements are fair and that you remain unbiased within the decision making process
  • Maintain a positive and supportive culture within the business at all times and liaise with staff in an effective and efficient way
  • Develop strong working relationships with staff and awarding organisations
  • To ensure that targets set by the Head of Quality are agreed upon and met by the deadlines indicated
  • To provide support, advice and guidance for staff aligned to the PMO programmes
  • To attend External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits when required
  • To ensure that sampling plans are kept up to date and to ensure that IQA activity runs in line with company deadlines
  • To perform any ad-hoc duties that the company considers to be reasonably aligned to your role
  • To ensure your compliance with business systems and procedures
  • To be mindful of your own personal safety and the safety of colleagues in line with The Safeguarding Policy and to report any areas for concern as appropriate

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Overall sound educational background
  • Basic IT knowledge (including all Microsoft packages)
  • Hold a relevant subject area qualification or have experience, such as:- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations (QCF) or equivalent
  • Proven industrial experience/technical understanding of the units being assessed
  • Hold a recognised internal quality assurance qualification, which could include any of the following:- Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or equivalent (QCF) or equivalent - D34 - V1 - IQAs must be familiar with, and preferably hold, the QCF Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment or equivalent
  • Continued Professional Development (CPD) record for the subject area
  • Have a good understanding of the technical activities being assessed, together with knowledge of relevant Health & Safety implications and requirements of the assessments
  • Functional skills math and English at Level 2 or equivalent

  • Communication - Demonstrates good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing or on digital platforms. Uses the most appropriate channels to communicate effectively. Demonstrates agility and confidence in communications, carrying authority appropriately
  • Time Management - Ability to work towards strict deadlines and manage priorities and time in order to successfully meet deadlines. Positively manages the expectations of colleagues at all levels and sets a positive example for others in the workplace. Makes suggestions for improvements to working practice, showing understanding of implications beyond the immediate environment (e.g. impact on clients, suppliers, other parts of the organisation). Manages resources e.g. equipment or facilities
