About Us:

UKLST provides professional language services, dedicated to bridging communication gaps for diverse clients in the public and private sectors. We are currently recruiting reliable and professional Polish Interpreters to join our freelance network, primarily serving the Greater Manchester region.

The Role:

As a Freelance Polish Interpreter, you will facilitate accurate, confidential, and impartial communication between English-speaking service providers and Polish-speaking service users. Assignments will cover a variety of settings, including but not limited to:

Public Services:

NHS (Hospitals, GP Practices), Local Authorities, Social Services, Education.

Legal/Justice:

Solicitors' offices, Police settings, Courts, Probation.

Commercial:

Business meetings, housing, or other private sector environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate and complete consecutive, simultaneous, or whispered interpretation between Polish and English in a professional, impartial, and confidential manner. Convey the meaning, tone, and context of the source language into the target language without omission, addition, or distortion. Adhere strictly to the Interpreter's Code of Conduct and professional ethics at all times. Manage assignments efficiently, ensuring punctuality and professional presentation. Maintain accurate records of assignments and submit invoices promptly. Engage in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance linguistic and subject-matter knowledge.

Essential Requirements:

Linguistic Proficiency:

Fluency in both Polish and English (written and spoken). Polish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility:

Must be eligible to work as a self-employed/freelance interpreter in the UK.

DBS Check:

Must possess an Enhanced DBS (registered with the Update Service is highly desirable) or be willing to apply for one immediately upon offer.

Proven reliability, excellent communication, strong listening skills, and a commitment to confidentiality.
