We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our culinary team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract catering or school catering services and be comfortable working in different kitchens.
Duties
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and quality standards
Pack and dispatch food for some of our delivered in customers
Ensure all food is prepared fresh, presented attractively, and served promptly
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Uphold food safety standards at all times, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food as required
Serve dishes to customers when necessary, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction
Qualifications
Proven experience in a contract catering environment, demonstrating proficiency in cooking and meal preparation
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene
Experience with food presentation and plating techniques
Familiarity with various cooking methods and culinary styles
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Previous experience in catering or large-scale meal preparation is desirable
Formal culinary training or relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
The role is for a new contract catering company, with a growing client base of schools.
