Job Description

Summery:
Experienced sewing and dressmaking freelance tutor to teach beginners to advanced sewing and dressmaking womenswear adult classes at a small independent sewing school starting this summer 2025.

Experience:
You will ideally need to have proven experience in teaching small groups (approx. 6 people), with proficient industry experience as a pattern cutter/dressmaker. You should have an outgoing, friendly and professional manner, have heaps of patience and be able to work to specific time frames.

Availabilty:
You will need to be available to teach one weekend a month and occasional weekday evenings (6:30pm-9:30pm) and morning (10.30am-1.30pm) classes to begin with, with the possibility of working more shifts during busier months. The position is suitable for someone looking for a flexible second job.

Skills required:
Flat and form pattern cutting, ability to adapt and alter commercial, multi-size patterns to fit individual measurements. Ability to work with both woven and stretch patterns and fabrics, good fabric knowledge and experience with working with a variety of fabrics, strong construction and finishing skills, excellent communication skills, excellent time management skills, highly reliable and organised.
