We are seeking an experienced Fire Stopping Trainer to join our growing team on a freelance basis. This role involves delivering high-quality, compliant fire stopping and passive fire protection training primarily at customer locations across the UK and supporting the continual development of our learners' competence.
The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience in fire stopping installation, combined with an understanding of training, assessment, and compliance requirements within the construction and fire safety sector. Experience as an assessor or IQA is highly desirable.
You will work closely with our Head of Training and Quality Manager to deliver engaging, standards-based training, ensure consistency of assessment, and help maintain our reputation for excellence in fire safety education.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality fire stopping training at customer sites and partner venues nationwide.
Deliver theory and knowledge sessions through classroom, virtual, or blended learning methods where required.
Support learners through competence-based qualifications (NVQ / AIM / FireQual etc.) related to fire stopping and passive fire protection.
Conduct on-site practical demonstrations and ensure learners follow best practice aligned to current legislation, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards
Assess learner competence and progress where appropriate, using an e-portfolio system to record and verify evidence.
Liaise with assessors and IQAs to maintain robust internal quality assurance and compliance.
Contribute to standardisation, moderation, and continual improvement of training materials and delivery.
Promote safe working practices and uphold our organisation's values of clarity, quality, and compliance.
Qualifications Required
Relevant trade or industry qualification in Passive Fire Protection / Fire Stopping.
Ideally hold one or more of the following:
PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) or Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), or equivalent teaching qualification.
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (CAVA / A1 / D32/33).
Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA) - desirable.
Experience Required
Proven experience in fire stopping installation and inspection.
Experience in training or assessing within a construction or fire safety context.
Good understanding of building regulations, passive fire protection systems, and product certification.
Confident working independently on customer sites, ensuring a professional and safe learning environment.
Strong IT skills and confidence in using e-portfolio systems and virtual learning platforms.
