Role Overview
The role is a hands-on Freight Forwarder position for someone who can hit the ground running from day one. We are looking for a proven freight professional with extensive industry experience who can set up, manage, and grow their own desk independently. As part of our plans to grow and strengthen our logistics team, you will be trusted to run end-to-end freight operations, manage customer relationships, negotiate rates, and deliver results with minimal oversight.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday Days; 8am - 4pm / 9am - 6pm
Essential Experience
Manage end-to-end freight movements from booking to final delivery
Run and develop your own freight desk, handling shipments independently and efficiently.
Liaise daily with customers, carriers, overseas agents, and suppliers.
Negotiate rates and secure competitive freight solutions.
Prepare, check, and process all shipping documentation.
Track shipments proactively and resolve delays or issues without escalation.
Ensure compliance with customs, trade, and transport regulations.
Provide regular updates and high-level customer service to clients.
Maintain accurate records within freight management systems.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and support the growth of the logistics team.
Strong Communication skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders effectively.
Problem-solving and analytical skills to optimise transportation operations.
Previous experience in the logistics or transportation industry.
Experience preparing quotations and understanding costs involved in performing a contract.
Strong IT skills and knowledge of Transport Management Systems such as Vigo, TachoMaster, FleetCheck, Matrix Telematics.
Nice to Have!
Knowledge of processes and procedures including fleet utilisation, fleet compliance and safety regulations.
Knowledge of the working time directive and driver regulations
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance in transportation operations
