Job Advert Description

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Front Counter team.



To maintain an effective Reception Service and Enquiry Counter at relevant Police Station(s). To deal with general enquiries from the public, made personally by telephone or Email. To maintain secure control of entry to and exit from the building.


The role is varied and you will provide a reception service at a police station(s), where you will deal with members of the public for various reasons such as;

Obtaining initial details from persons wishing to report an incident/crime/road traffic collision, both at the counter or by telephone. Examine documents presented, recording details as required. Record details of found property and secure property accordingly. To process and authorise the release of seized vehicles, checking documents as required and liaising with recovery garages and insurance bureau. To receive applications for shotgun and firearms certificate renewals. Recording details of persons reporting on both Police and Immigration bail and maintain the bail register.

The role requires applicants who can demonstrate (with evidence) skills and experience in the following areas;



NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in Business Administration/Customer Care and/or an equivalent amount of proven experience of dealing with members or the public/other agencies that incorporates communication via the telephone and face to face. The use of information technology to an intermediate level that includes inputting/typing skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Clerical/administrative experience to include the recording and cross-referencing of information and thereafter following Force Procedures. The applicant must hold a Current Driving Licence and must be able to travel force wide as this post is peripatetic
