Are you passionate about creating unforgettable customer experiences? Do you love the idea of working for a fiercely independent pub where quality and local community are at the heart of everything we do?

At The Old Dog, we've built a fantastic reputation since opening in 2022, with a food & drink offering that consistently gets excellent feedback. Now, we're embarking on an exciting growth journey to elevate our entire operation, expand our opening hours to 7 days a week, and solidify our status as a top destination. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor of our next chapter, making a real impact as part of a close-knit team that believes in what we do.

What Makes The Old Dog Different?

Proudly Independent:

We are a freehouse, meaning we have the freedom to serve the best from our kitchen and our bar, without being tied to big breweries.

Hyper-Local Focus:

We only serve beer from local, independent breweries. The majority of our kitchen ingredients are sourced from fantastic local farms and suppliers, who we consider part of our team.

A Real Growth Opportunity:

You won't just be a number. You'll be a key part of our growth, with opportunities to develop your skills and grow with the business as we expand.

Passion Over Pretence:

We're looking for genuine passion for hospitality. We want people who love building rapport and can read the unique needs of our customers.

Your Role in Our Story

As a Front of House & Bar Professional, you'll be the face of The Old Dog. Your role will be varied, working across both the bar and the floor to lead the customer experience from the moment they walk in. You will:

Welcome guests and act as the host for a section of tables, making their experience memorable from start to finish. Master our Epos system to take food and drink orders accurately. Craft and serve drinks, from a perfect pint of local ale to signature cocktails, managing the bar, stock, and glassware. Help plan, promote, and execute special and/or regular events, from popular themed nights to seasonal gatherings, gaining hands-on experience in event management. Collaborate closely with our talented kitchen team to ensure a seamless service. Be an ambassador for our local area, sharing knowledge with customers to enhance their visit and continue to integrate The Old Dog to our local community.

Who We're Looking For

You have a genuine, infectious passion for amazing customer service and hospitality. Ideally, you'll have at least two years of experience in a quality bar or restaurant setting. However, if you have less experience but the right attitude and a desire to learn, we strongly encourage you to apply. You are a team player, willing to support your colleagues across the entire pub, from front to back. You are knowledgeable about food safety practices. You must be able to reliably commute to our location in Ashbourne.

The Perks

A competitive hourly wage plus a share of all customer tips. Company pension scheme with NEST. Discounted meals on shift and fantastic employee discounts. A brilliant and supportive team environment with in house and external training for all roles. Genuine opportunities for career progression and training in areas like cellar management, wine service, and event management as we grow our offering.
