Job Purpose




The Front of House Waiter/Waitress will oversee the functions of an exciting new catering provision Cafe Bryn Euryn, based in Mochdre. In addition to serving good quality homemade food and drinks, the cafe will also provide a training provision and vocational experience for young people and adults with Learning Disabilities to learn and develop skills and knowledge required to work in a catering environment. The postholder will also work with the Team Coordinator and the Cook to plan and deliver a high quality, catering business alongside a high-quality support provision for people we support in collaboration with internal and external partners. The Front of House Waiter/Waitress will support young people and adults with Learning Disabilities to develop their skills in all functions of Front of House working to a clear progression plan through services including links with education, supported employment and volunteering in response to their assessed outcomes and agreed support plans.


This role also includes building effective working relationships with families, customers and all stakeholders including local authorities to develop meaningful employability and life skills that will enable them to make choices and take control of their lives.


The Front of House Waiter/Waitress will be accountable for escalating to the line manager any areas of concern sothat necessary actions are taken appropriately and in a timely way.

Key Accountabilities



Catering




To thrive in this role, you will:

Welcome guests and promptly attend to tables Be responsible for the keeping the front of house area (including external seating area) clean and tidy, clearing tables, completing opening and closing duties, stock tableware and other supplies Serve food and beverages to guests making recommendations if needed Have a high level of personal hygiene Communicate with the kitchen regarding questions including; length of wait, product availability, meal requirements, dietary needs and special requests Follow Health and Safety guidelines, and policies to report accidents and injuries. Handle payments of goods and services Prepare hot and cold drinks, including operating the barista machine Provide support in the kitchen as required Support the team to operate and comply with food safety regulations and standards. Support Adults with Learning disabilities to develop their catering knowledge and experience. Work closely with the Supported Employment service's Job Coaches to upskill people to transition onto paid employment Handle any issues that may arise, including people we support concerns, customer complaints, equipment malfunctions. Communicate effectively with people we support, customers and other stakeholders. Work to the highest of standards, adhering to and promoting the 'Safer Food Better Business for Caterers' as specified by the 'Food Standards Agency' achieving and maintaining 5 Star Level Food Hygiene Standards. Be aware of food safety regulations ensuring that meals are safe and free from contamination. You will have knowledge of allergens and the importance of labelling and storage of food with reference to Natasha's Law. Establishing an understanding of, and adherence to, all policies and procedures in their locations/settings Know your communities and stakeholders and work in partnership to plan events and offers in the cafes. Ensure that fridges and display units are fully stocked and consider the presentation of displays.
