Job Overview


We're looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Web Developer to join our fun, dynamic, and fast-growing marketing agency.

Your focus will be on developing high-quality, SEO-optimised websites using WordPress and modern frontend technologies.

You'll be working with PHP and Javascript, and although WordPress experience is highly desirable, we're open to developers from other backgrounds who are keen to learn.

The ideal candidate will be organised, logical, and process-oriented, bringing fresh expertise and best practices to our development process while embracing the collaborative culture of our team. You will work closely with designers and project managers to deliver high-quality digital solutions that meet client needs.

As the company grows, so will your responsibilities, including opportunities to develop custom plugins, web applications, and potentially lead development projects.

Responsibilities

:

WordPress Development



Build responsive, accessible websites on WordPress using page builders (experience with Bricks Builder and Automatic CSS beneficial but not required) Write clean, semantic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (BEM methodology preferred) Work with designs provided in Figma and collaborate with designers to ensure accurate and responsive layouts. Create and manage custom fields using Metabox.io Work with WooCommerce for e-commerce solutions Write clean, efficient PHP 7/8 code for custom functionality Ensure responsiveness & accessibility across devices and browsers Maintain and improve existing websites with a strong eye for performance Strong knowledge of WordPress plugin architecture, Custom Fields and custom post types/taxonomies

Integration & Technical Work



Integrate third-party plugins, APIs, and CMS platforms (Beneficial) Tailor functionality to client requirements and needs Implement technical SEO practices and optimisations (structured data, accessibility, page speed) Understanding of security best practices and data sanitisation

Code Quality & Performance



Write maintainable code, adhere to coding standards, document key functions and follow best practice for scalability Optimise performance by profiling load times (Lighthouse, GTmetrix) and apply necessary optimisations (caching, lazy-loading etc) Strong attention to code quality and a basic understanding of testing, linting and performance-monitoring concepts

Collaboration & Growth



Work closely with designers and content creators Participate in meetings to discuss project progress and roadblocks. Coordinate with other developers and contractors on larger projects Proactively suggest improvements to development processes and workflows Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve skills.

Skills & Qualifications:



Essential Requirements



1-2 years of web development experience (Agency or Freelance environment ideally) Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and responsive design Proficiency in WordPress development, including theme and plugin customisation. Strong knowledge of PHP 7/8 and/or JavaScript Understanding of SEO fundamentals and semantic HTML Strong understanding of responsive web design principles and best practices. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Excellent communication skills, a proactive problem-solving approach and strong attention to detail Ability to estimate tasks and meet deadlines Organised, logical, and process-oriented mindset

Desirable



Familiarity with Bricks Builder and/or Automatic CSS framework Experience with WooCommerce Experience with Next.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks Knowledge of schema markup and structured data Experience with GSAP animations Competence with analytics and performance tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager Experience with API integrations
