To lead and support the care team during assigned shifts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities. The Frontline Care Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the shift, promoting independence, dignity, and safety for all individuals supported, and ensuring care is delivered in line with individual support plans, PBS plans, regulatory standards, and organisational values.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
Act as the senior leader on shift, overseeing all aspects of care and support delivery.
Supervise and support staff in delivering high-quality, respectful, and empowering care.
Provide guidance and supervision to support staff, promoting effective teamwork and high standards of care.
Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure care and support are delivered in accordance with plans.
Lead shift handovers and ensure clear communication across the team.
Care Delivery
Support Service users with personal care, daily living tasks, medication (where trained), and community access.
Promote independence, choice, and inclusion in all areas of life.
Ensure support is tailored to individual needs and preferences, with a strong focus on person-centred values and positive behaviour support
Promote a positive, inclusive, and enabling environment that reduces the likelihood of distress or escalation.
Build positive, trusting relationships with service users, families, and professionals.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily notes, health records, ABO's, incident and Accident reports.
Ensure care and support meets CQC standards and organisational policies.
Carry out audits including medication, finance, infection control and health and Safety, spot checks, and participate in care reviews and planning meetings.
Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns, health issues, or environmental risks promptly.
Communication & Team Collaboration
Promote a positive and respectful team culture that prioritises the well-being of residents and staff.
Contribute to team meetings, supervision, and the continuous improvement of the service.
Liaise with families, professionals, and external agencies in a respectful and professional manner.
Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure a consistent and responsive service.
Foster a positive team culture that values respect, inclusion, and continuous learning.
Person Specification:
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge
Previous experience in a senior or shift leader role
Commitment to person-centred and values-based support
Understanding and experience of implementing Positive Behaviour Support
Strong leadership, organisational, decision-making and communication skills
Ability to model good practice and coach others on shift
Desirable:
Experience with risk assessments and care planning
Familiarity with electronic care recording systems
Knowledge of Active Support and person-centred planning
