2nd Chef
to join the team.
We are not your average cafe. Time Out gave us the accolade of being their "Number 1 Brunch Spot in Brighton & Hove" and we have won six Brighton Restaurant Awards for Best Cafe or Best Brunch.
We have a small kitchen and can get very busy, especially at weekends and in summer, so you'll need to be well organised, tidy and calm under pressure, with excellent food safety management and good communication skills. We have a small team of just a head chef, 2nd chef, part-time chef & kitchen assistant.
Years of experience would be great, however a positive attitude is equally important. Our workplace culture means as much to us as the quality of food we produce.
Duties
- Prepping ingredients for service and maintaining stock rotation
- Preparing food to order in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Working alone on quieter midweek days
- Running the kitchen in the absence of the head chef
- Contribute to KP duties on weekdays when our KP is off
Experience
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques & food safety
- Familiarity with restaurant operations
- Ability to work well under pressure
Hours
: Approx 8am-3.30pm 5 days a week including weekends.
Rate
: 14.30ph depending on ability plus statutory holiday and pension benefits.
Tips & Service Charge
: Between 2.50-3.50 per hour worked, depending on time of year, plus daily cash tips on top.
You'll also get statutory holiday pay and pension scheme entitlement.
References and evidence of working in a similar role will be required.
