Job Summary:

Imperial College Dental Surgery is looking for a trainee dental nurse with experience working at reception to join our team on a permanent basis.

We are a large, friendly NHS practice in the heart of South Kensington, Central London surrounded by parks, museums and within the campus of a top rated, world class University.

The role would suit somebody who is comfortable with shift work as the practice is open 8am- 8pm Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays 9am-5pm

Prerequisites:

Looking for a start within the next 2-3 weeks Comfortable in an almost exclusively NHS practice Has completed a dental nursing course or willing to enrol in one. Prior experience working as a receptionist and familiar with EXACT Shifts from 7:45am-2pm or 2pm to 8.30pm and 1 or 2 Saturdays a month You would be expected to be flexible enough to extend your shift in times of colleague absence or holiday

Responsibilities



Dental Reception

Greet patients warmly as they arrive and assist them with check-in procedures. Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring optimal utilisation of the dentist's time. Manage patient records accurately, including updating personal information and treatment history. Handle incoming calls and inquiries, providing information about services and addressing patient concerns. Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail. Maintain a clean and organised reception area, ensuring all materials are stocked and readily available. Collaborate with dental staff to ensure seamless patient flow throughout the practice. Assist in managing inventory of dental supplies as needed.

Dental Nurse

Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including handing instruments, suctioning, and providing support to patients Prepare materials for impressions and restorations Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories as necessary Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment Assist with scheduling appointments, taking calls, responding to emails, managing patient flow, and maintaining inventory of dental supplies

Skills



Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact positively with patients and staff. Proficiency in office administration tasks, including scheduling software and basic computer applications. A friendly disposition with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Attention to detail in managing patient records and appointment scheduling. Previous experience in a dental or healthcare setting is an advantage but not essential; training will be provided.
