English Teacher
The Green Room School
Unique opportunity to teach English in an Outstanding school (OFSTED Outstanding in All Areas)
Support aspects of the school's creative curriculum (Arts Award)
Full Time - term time
Salary based on skills and experience
The Green Room School, or GRW as it is known, is an independent school providing a second chance at education for up to 25 young people aged 13-16, who have, for various reasons, found it difficult to learn in mainstream education. All students have Education Health Care Plans indicating a variety of needs, including ASC, ADHD, ODD, PDA and/or emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Our unmissable and audacious curriculum is broad and takes opportunities to provide the cultural capital necessary for students to start a path towards education, employment and training. GRW prides itself on creating a learning environment that students want to attend.
Due to the nature of our students, this role may suit either a primary or secondary trained teacher who first and foremost loves teaching English, but also has an artistic/creative side. The curriculum covers the KS3 and KS4 (iGCSE) English syllabus, but being Independent, the school is not tied to the National Curriculum; so teachers have the freedom and flexibility to take ownership of a dynamic and curiosity-rich syllabus. Our artistic lessons are focussed around a wide range of creativity; our students complete different levels of the Arts Award so there is vast scope for inventiveness.
GRW are looking for someone who really wants to make a difference to young people's lives; someone who wants to help them reach their potential by giving them a second chance; someone who is enthusiastic yet understands the need for boundaries, and is energetic yet calm. Do you want to demonstrate your own virtuosity in our school in historic Windsor? Can you be an extraordinary role model? We have a phrase for it - we want someone who'll make a dent in the universe.
Package includes a competitive salary based on experience and expertise for this full time role in addition to eligibility for our pension scheme, Benenden Healthcare, Death in Service benefit, lunches, DBS, statutory training and role-specific training as needed.
Take a look at our website to learn more about our schools. If this is you, send us your CV and a covering letter explaining why to recruitment@thegreenroomschool.com.
This is a full-time position to start from January 2025.
We value diversity and are committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare. The successful candidate will be subject to DBS and any other relevant employment checks.
