We are seeking a creative and tech-savvy Fundraising Assistant to support our mission through this varied role. This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and making a positive social impact. In addition to general fundraising duties, you will assist in managing our social media channels, updating our website, and creating engaging digital content that reflects our values and initiatives and working to enhance our digital and community presence.
Responsibilities:
Integrated Marketing Focus
Social Media
Schedule and publish content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Create simple graphics and visuals using tools like Canva/Creative Cloud
Write compelling captions and calls-to-action that align with our mission
Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages in a timely, professional tone
Track social media metrics and assist in creating monthly performance reports
Create and manage Ad Campaigns as appropriate
Research ways to reach new audiences on existing and new platforms (Tiktok etc.)
Website Support
Update website content (blog posts, events, staff bios, etc.) using WordPress / Elementor
Ensure information is accurate, accessible, and up-to-date
Assist with basic SEO practices and web content formatting ensuring good website placement
Use of Google Analytics to create reports and understand user journeys
Help with uploading media (photos, PDFs, videos) and keeping the design consistent
Other Communications Support
Collaborate with the team on digital campaigns, newsletters, or fundraising drives
Help maintain the content calendar
Support occasional live event promotion (virtual or in-person)
Assist with presentations to build awareness of the Charity's mission
Use of Donorfy CRM system logging donations and keeping up to date with our donors
Assist in meeting deadlines and financial targets for Fundraising
Provide fundraising administrative support
Providing fundraising and administrative support, assisting in the delivery of a successful portfolio of community fundraising activities, under the management and leadership of the Fundraising Manager.
Being an active member of the team out in the charity's community, providing practical support and resources to all those who raise money for CHESS.
Building and developing fundraising relationships in the community, by providing excellent stewardship and support to our volunteers and key supporters.
Use of our CRM system Donorfy, adding supporters and donations when required, sending thankyou letters etc.
Assist in the delivery of a successful portfolio of community fundraising activities. Building and developing community relationships by providing excellent stewardship and support to our volunteers and key supporters, under the management and leadership of the Fundraising Manager by:
Organising collection days in local community
Develop school assembly series
Researching and contacting local groups to arrange talks/presentations by Fundraising Manager
Researching local store giving and applying to their token schemes
Researching and communicating with local corporates to become their Charity of the Year
Responding to emails from potential community fundraisers/individuals
Be an active member of the team out in the charity's community, providing practical support and resources to all those who raise money for CHESS.
Assist/lead at external events (University days, shopping centre exhibits etc), and presenting assemblies at schools/churches etc.
Occasionally giving generic CHESS presentation in absence of F/R Manager or other staff
Liaise and work with Volunteers and on the Fundraising Group
Experience or interest in social media management and/or website editing
Familiarity with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. and IT literate (Microsoft packages & some form of database)
Basic knowledge of WordPress or other CMS
Strong written communication and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Graphic design or video editing skills a plus (Canva, Adobe tools, etc.)
Passion for nonprofit work, community building, or social causes
Preferred Experience:
Previous work with a nonprofit or community-based organization
Experience writing for diverse audiences
Knowledge of accessibility and inclusivity best practices online
Open to occasional evening/weekend working where required
