Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in meal preparation and food preparation, ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene while supporting the chefs in delivering exceptional catering services.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients as directed by the head chef. Help maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all surfaces and equipment are sanitised and tidy. Support the culinary team in food preparation tasks for catering events and restaurant service. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are met. Assist in inventory management by helping to receive deliveries and store food items appropriately. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods. Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred, but not essential; a willingness to learn is key. Basic knowledge of culinary techniques and meal preparation processes. Understanding of food safety standards and practices is advantageous. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards helping others in the kitchen. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
