The Role
As a
Peer Support Worker
, you'll use your own recovery experience to inspire, guide, and support others who are beginning their recovery journey. Working alongside support workers and clinical staff, you'll help residents build confidence, develop recovery skills, and engage with group and community programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide peer-based support and encouragement to individuals in recovery.
Share personal insights and recovery experiences appropriately to foster hope and motivation.
Support participation in 12-step fellowship,Step group work, and therapeutic activities.
Promote positive coping strategies and personal responsibility in recovery.
Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and recovery-focused environment.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings empathy, understanding, and hope through lived experience.
Essential Criteria:
A minimum of
2 years continuous sobriety
.
Member of SSSC or willingness to work towards it.
Completion of a
12-step fellowship programme
(or actively engaged in ongoing recovery through 12-step principles).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Willingness to work a rota including
day and night shifts
, covering
weekdays and weekends
.
Desirable:
Experience in a peer support or mentoring role.
Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches.
SVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
