Full Time SEN Nanny - for a Bright 6-Year-Old (Home Educated, Complex Needs)
About Us / Role:
We are a warm, vibrant family looking for a super organised, proactive, and playful individual to join an amazing, well-supported team caring for our 6-year-old son -- a bright, magical child with complex physical, medical, and communication needs, and mainstream intelligence.
He is home educated and supported by a team of amazing specialists, including a full-time Conductive Educator, therapists, and conductive education specialist teachers. Every aspect of his care and education is carefully tailored -- from learning and communication to therapy and sensory regulation.
You'll be well supported in this role and will never be expected to juggle other tasks while directly caring for him. When you're with him, your full focus is on his safety, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
Please note: This is a highly specialised role. Only candidates with experience in, or a genuine interest in learning about SEN development should apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Work as part of a collaborative team supporting all aspects of his care and education
Support the full-time lead Conductive Educator as a second person throughout the week
Take the lead in his care when the conductor is not present.
Facilitate engaging play by physically doing the activities for him, enabling him to connect socially and emotionally
Support sensory regulation using movement-based techniques such as swinging and bouncing
Join a parent or team member to accompany him to external therapy or medical appointments
Assist during family events, outings, and playdates
Use / learn AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems
Provide full personal care: toileting, dressing, hygiene, dysphagia feeding (training provided), and positioning
Monitor for and respond appropriately to seizures and other medical needs (training provided)
Use mobility equipment (hoists, standing frames, etc.) -- full training provided
Be computer literate -- help prepare and manage tailored educational materials, coordinate with teachers, and ensure sessions are ready
Assist with light housekeeping and cooking -- only when not actively caring for him
Important: You will not be expected to do household or school admin tasks while supervising or caring for him.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience with complex physical and communication needs
A proactive, can-do attitude -- this is a busy household, and we need someone who can think on their feet and get stuck in
Confident supporting epilepsy, dysphagia, and non-verbal children
Familiar with or open to learning sensory regulation strategies
Emotionally intelligent, playful, and respectful
Exceptionally organised, tidy, and reliable
Computer literate -- confident managing educational resources and digital communication
A true team player -- able to follow guidance and work closely with therapists, educators, and family
Flexible and dependable -- available for full-time hours
Holds a driving licence (ideal but not essential)
About Our Son:
Our son is an incredibly brave, bright boy. His smile radiates sunshine -- he's truly magical. Although he requires a team to help him navigate and interpret the world, his cognition is remarkable, and he has a strong drive for independence.
We're looking for someone who can help us support that journey -- someone ready to get stuck in, come up with ideas, and be a solid, consistent, joyful presence for him and our family.
