We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider

at HMP Liverpool, working as a Functional Skills Cover Teacher on an ad-hoc basis.

Site Information

HMP Liverpool is a Category B Male prison based in Walton, Liverpool. The prison itself has a strong local identity, upon arrival large murals illustrate the city and its surroundings. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:


To hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months To hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Have previous track record of achieving of quality and performance targets Have experience producing accurate and timely reports Positive team working Effective communication & inter-personal skills Experience working in a Cover capacity/in a prison environment (Desirable)
