Purpose of the role:
The Fundraising Manager will lead income generation for Project Seagrass by bringing strong expertise in at least one of the following: grant writing, corporate fundraising or individual giving.
Facilitating the development, support and championing of new and existing fundraising initiatives to maximise income generation across income streams
Cultivating strong and positive relationships with donors and supporters
Promoting our charitable aims, inclusive culture and Project Seagrass brand
Lead and grow Project Seagrass's corporate fundraising and sponsorship portfolio, securing high-value, long-term partnerships aligned with our mission and values.
The postholder will take ownership of their specialist income stream while collaborating with colleagues to support our wider fundraising strategy, values, and growth ambitions.
Applicants are not expected to be experts in all areas.
Key duties & responsibilities:
Individual Giving (primary focus)
Develop and deliver a sustainable individual giving programme, including regular giving, appeals, and donor journeys
Plan and deliver engaging multi-channel fundraising campaigns
Grow and steward the supporter base, increasing long-term value and retention
Analyse performance against KPIs and forecast income
Keep up to date with developments within the fundraising and charity sectors
Manage Project Seagrass content across the suite of fundraising platforms
Corporate Sponsorship
Develop and deliver a corporate fundraising and sponsorship strategy, including income targets and pipeline development.
Identify, research, and cultivate new corporate partners across priority sectors (e.g. sustainability, finance, marine, technology, consumer brands).
Build and manage relationships with corporate decision-makers, sustainability leads, and foundations linked to corporate giving.
Design compelling sponsorship, partnership, and cause-related marketing propositions tailored to corporate priorities.
Negotiate partnership agreements, ensuring mutual value, ethical alignment, and reputational integrity for Project Seagrass.
Manage stewardship of corporate partners, including reporting, impact updates, and relationship development to encourage renewal and growth.
Grant Writing (primary focus)
Identify, research, and secure funding from trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, and corporate funders
Develop compelling cases for support in collaboration with colleagues
Manage grant applications, reporting, and funder relationships
Maintain accurate records of grants and funding outcomes
Ensure compliance with funder requirements

Develop and deliver a fundraising strategy aligned with Project Seagrass' values and strategic priorities
Support the development of values-aligned corporate relationships
Respond to and progress appropriate corporate funding opportunities as they arise, in collaboration with colleagues
Build positive relationships with donors, funders, partners, and colleagues
Promote Project Seagrass' mission, values, and inclusive culture
Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and best practice whilst maintaining high ethical standards and adhering to data protection regulations
Lead on the preparation of high-quality partnership proposals, pitches, and presentations.
Work closely with science, policy, and communications teams to translate impact into clear, fundable narratives.
Ensure robust monitoring and reporting of corporate-funded activity, demonstrating impact against agreed objectives.
Collaborate with communications and engagement teams to maximise visibility and value for corporate partners.
Represent Project Seagrass at corporate events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Deliver agreed annual income targets from corporate sources.
Maintain accurate records of partnerships, prospects, and income using CRM systems.
Ensure all corporate fundraising activity complies with charity law, fundraising regulation, and organisational policies.
Person Specification
Essential
An experienced Fundraiser, with demonstrable experience in either individual giving, corporate fundraising or grant writing. (Experience across areas is welcome but not required.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Experience working to targets, KPIs, or funding goals
Understanding of the law and regulations pertaining to fundraising, familiar with the Code of Fundraising Practice
Ability to analyse data and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
A genuine commitment to Project Seagrass' mission
Desirable
Experience in planning and organizing fundraising events.
Experience working in environmental, climate, or nature-based organisations.
Understanding of ESG, sustainability, or nature finance agendas.
Experience of multi-year or six-figure partnerships.
Full clean UK driving licence
