Berriedale is an independent funeral directors, with two funeral homes in Westhill and Bridge of Don. We are honoured to serve the communities of Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and afar, taking pride in the personal and compassionate care we provide for our families, making each funeral service as unique as the individual.

We are looking to recruit a Funeral Manager, or Funeral Director who is ready to step up into a more managerial role. The successful candidate will be empathetic, compassionate, diligent and will look after our families as they would their own, but will have the skills to lead our team to progress our funeral home to it's full potential.

As a Funeral Director, they must have the ability to capture intricate detail and make sure it is reflected in the service we deliver - you get once chance to pay tribute to a loved one, so we must aim for perfection every time. As a Manager, they must also lead by example, inspiring those qualities in others.

The successful candidate will be required to:



Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong professional relationships - Provide regular, clear updates on operations, financial performance, staffing, and client issues. Lead and support our team to ensure funerals are delivered in a professional, caring, and empathetic manner Lead on operational matters for delivery of our services through efficient scheduling and effective task delegation - meeting the needs of our families and the business Be an effective and 'hands-on' leader Forecasting resource demand to ensure we are pro-active and efficient Ensure all internal and legislative policies and procedures are adhered to Ensure the property maintenance is upheld and any issues reported Organise and uphold vehicle maintenance Support staff training and development Regular ashes audits Carry out and log regular health and safety requirements Work closely with the owners to progress the business while maintaining family-centred values Stock take and rotation Maintain a clean, well-organised funeral home ready to serve families and visitors. Suggest improvements or initiatives to enhance business growth and service offerings Assist with media presence and future business growth, including funeral plans

In addition to the following role as a Funeral Director:



Arrange and conduct funeral services - You will be on hand to care for family members, ensuring their loved one's wishes are carried out to the highest possible standard. Carry out chauffer services: Berriedale has a Jaguar Daimler Hearse and Limousine for funeral services (this includes general car maintainence, including washing and polishing) Furnish coffins to a high specification, suited to our families' needs Work collaboratively and give direction as needed to ensure family needs are met Demonstrate reliability and time efficiency Keep well groomed at all times. Be able to keep calm and compassionate in stressful and emotional circumstances - the needs of our families must always come first. Be physically fit and able to perform manual lifting duties. Be able to join the on-call rota; this requires time-sensitive reactive work, sometimes through the night and at weekends Have a friendly and welcoming manner Represent Berriedale sensitively within the local community Administrative duties Arrange memorial masonry and jewellery Mortuary duties; Assist the embalmer in the preparation and presentation of loved ones, with dignity Be able to use their initiative, with great problem solving skills, with efficiency and grace
A Full UK Driving Licence is required, ideally with the confidence to drive larger vehicles.

Funeral profession experience is imperative, however in-house training will be offered.
