JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: Furniture Store Assistant

Hours: 16.5 per week, to be worked flexibly over 4-5 days: Tuesday to Friday and every second Saturday, or acording to the needs of the project. Additional hours to be worked for holiday and sickness covers if and when needed.

Pay: 12.21 per hour starting salary

Probationary Period: 3 Months

Notice Required: see contract

Accountable to: Engage Furniture Store Manager

The purpose of this post is to work in Engage's Furniture Reuse Store. The post holder will need to be able to lift and move items of furniture.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Dealing with members of the public wishing to donate or buy furniture, including cash-handling Arranging collections and deliveries of furniture Completing appropriate records relating to sales and donations, including Gift Aid declarations Dealing with email enquiries Promoting the Furniture Project via social media, and responding to enquiries Supporting and directing drivers and volunteers as appropriate Supporting other Engage activities and services as required
All officers of Engage are expected to:

Be willing to step in to support other colleagues as and when appropriate Participate in appropriate training as practicable Ensure that the values of Engage are promoted at all times Promote and adhere to all policies adopted by the Board of Trustees of Engage Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required by the Board

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have as many of the following as possible:

Experience

Experience of working in a retail environment

Knowledge

A sympathetic understanding of Engage's role Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Working knowledge of social media Bookkeeping, not essential

Skills

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Ability to work alongside volunteers Good written and verbal Communication skills, especially dealing with the public Organisational skills to arrange collection and delivery of furniture. Ability to lift or move large items of furniture
